Ali Shaddad Al Nasser Al-Qahtani
Ali Ibrahim bin Shdad Al Nasser Al Qahtani is a researcher from the state of Qatar. He authored the book “Camels in Qatar: Their Ages, Names, and Strains.” Al Qahtani recognizes the unique significance of camels and the prestigious status they hold among Arabs and the people of the Gulf, in particular. In his view, camels are not just ancient means of transportation or a source of food and livelihood, but they are symbols of pride. They have been mentioned in the Quran in various places and have been used as examples for contemplation and reflection.
In his detailed book, Al Qahtani explores the study of camel strains and divisions. The book consists of four chapters, with the first chapter delving into the role of camels in Arab history and culture, with a focus on their mention in religious texts and folk literature. The second chapter takes the reader into the world of camels in Qatar, covering their history, types, and their role in Qatari society. This includes a discussion of unique camel strains, their grazing areas, and diseases, along with references to Qatari folk literature associated with them.
